Since I have experienced the previous Project month at my school, I have come to realize that there is so many things you can turn different types of trashes into. And used bottle caps is one of the trash I find very flexible to be upcycled with into many different things. And in this post, I will be sharing bottle caps crafts ideas for you to do if you have many used bottle caps laying around at home or if you are doing a waste upcycling project.
1. A Small Coaster
To make a coaster you need variable a amount of used bottle caps depending on how big you want the coaster to be.
I made a small coaster for small glass and it took 6x4 bottle caps, and so for a small coaster you need 24 bottle caps, for a bigger one you can multiply it by two.
Tools and Materials - 24 used bottle caps, solder, cable tie, and acrylic markers (optional).
How to make it:
1) First, put a hole on 4 symmetrical sides of the bottle caps.
2) Connect the bottle caps into 6 groups of 4 bottle caps.
3) Connect the 6 groups into one.
4) The coaster is done!
5) Optional: decorate the coaster with acrylic markers or paint.
2. Keychains
A keychain is a fun way to reduce bottle caps waste individually. And it's pretty easy to make.
Tools and Materials - Bottle cap, solder/something that can put a hole into a bottle cap (e.g. burnt nails and pliers), cable tie, a keychain ring, sticker paper (or a normal HVS with double-sided tape on the back), coloring utilities, and lastly a self-laminating sheet or varnish spray.
How to make it:
1) First, you simply need to put a hole on one side of the bottle cap using a hot solder.
2) Connect the bottle cap and the keychain ring using the cable tie.
3) Draw the desired keychain design using the coloring utilities on the sticker paper or a taped HVS paper and cut the design into the shape of the bottle caps used.
4) Stick the design onto the bottle cap and seal them with a self-laminating sheet cut perfectly to the shape of the bottle cap or seal it with a varnish spray and your keychain is finished!
3. Pencil Stand/Holder
This project also took a lot of improvisations to perfect, and it also needs a variable amount of bottle caps for different sizes of the desired pencil holder. But in this guide, I will give you the recipe of the pencil holder that I made in the previous project month.
Tools and Materials - 32 used bottle caps, used mineral water bottle, cutter/scissor, solder, cable tie, and some decorations.
How to make it:
1) Put a hole on 4 sides of each bottle caps using a solder.
2) Connect 8 groups of 4 rows of bottle caps, and connect all of them into an 8x4 using cable ties.
3) Cut the used mineral water bottle into the height of the bottle caps using a cutter or a scissor.
4) Connect the mineral water bottle with the bottle caps using hot glue gun.
5) Decorate the pencil holder and it's ready to go!
That's it for this week's blog but before I end this post I apologize for not uploading anything last week, and this post is a make-up post for it because I will be posting another blog this week hopefully on Sunday, see you guys then!
