There's a pretty special day I'd like to write about today. And it's about the "big event" I mentioned in the previous post. I will be writing about the school art expo day. It's an event at school where students perform stage art and other students can sell foods and beverages. And we can show off our finished projects from the previous project months, since we made bottle caps crafts and other really cool stuff. And the best thing about it is, in my opinion, is that students can dress up and wear makeup! Because we have uniforms and were not allowed to wear even a sunscreen to school, this is everybody's chance to dress up. Students are also allowed to cosplay in this event which is super cool, and one of my friend did a cosplay of 'Power' from Chainsaw Man, I'm not familiar with the character myself, but her cosplay looked fantastic.
My class got picked to sell foods and beverages, and we made a butterfly pea flower drink and corn fritters. It's nothing special, because each class are assigned a different main ingredient for the food and beverages, we got butterfly pea flower and corn. At first we were confused on what to make because we don't know many stuff that can be created with butterfly pea flower. But my group got lucky because we got corn as our main ingredient. We wanted to make popcorns because of it's simplicity, and people will need a snack while watching performance art there, but our homeroom teacher decided that we should sell corn fritters instead.
Two days before the actual event, we made some decorations for our stand and it's turns out great. We even made a corn costume with a staff, how cute! But disaster struck when our vice principal decided all students must wear uniforms to school and, if we still insist, change into our free clothes afterwards. Which is a crazy idea, because why would you change clothes in school, it would add up so much carry-ons to what everyone already carried in the first place, and I don't even know how I can wear makeup because of that.
The actual event is an emotional rollercoaster. The beginning is neutral, I made our stand's banner and it's cute, plus it's pink! And it started going low because I'm so afraid to change from my uniform to my free clothes. And when I thought the day couldn't get any worse, it did. My homeroom teacher decided that I should cook the corn fritters, and I don't know if you know this about me but one thing that I'm most horrible at is cooking. Heck, even the thought of having to turn a stove on is creeping me out, but when I have to do it, I will. But just because I can turn a stove on doesn't mean I can magically cook a frickin' corn fritter. So me and my friend escaped from our stand to search for food, and I bought gingerbread cookies, a yoghurt mango drink, sweet potato snacks, and that's pretty much it. I even bought our own iced butterfly pea flower drink, though it tasted interesting...
The rise started when my friend invited me to do my makeup with her, I started gaining confidence to change into my free clothes, and I actually feel pretty for once. Even though I was a little shy at first, we finally went out of our classroom and look at other people's food stands.
And curiosity has led us to watch the performance of an intriguingly-named band that we haven't heard of around school. The soundcheck itself took billions of years to finish, and we got a very unfortunate seat placement, it's surrounded by a whole bunch of losers. Since some people do cosplays in this event, including one of my friend, one of the cosplayer went near our seat and got catcalled by those losers right in front of our damn face. Me and my friends felt really uncomfortable sitting there. And worse, my cousin is in their loser of a friend group apparently, and he didn't do a damn thing about it. Me and my friends were so mad at that point, we were thinking of kicking those guys' seats. Do they even have a tiny bit of respect? I guess that word may not be familiar with someone as stupid as they are. And when the soundcheck had finally finished, they played a very generic song that's super popular in where I live. It's pretty disappointing but at least the vocalist sounded like he's been training properly.
Well, I guess the rest of the afternoon went pretty great. We got sent to clean up our stand, and I carried the gas tank to our homeroom teacher's car and the whole class cooked lunch, even though I didn't got any of it. It's pretty awesome nonetheless, because our stand and the food we sold took around $100 (in US Dollars) to make and it came back $300. It really made me wanna sell something of my own.
And it ended like a usual generic high school episode, of me and my friend waiting for my ride to come, because she walks to her house since it's super close to school, and we drink our homeroom teacher's handmade super-sus-looking lemon tea. It tasted pretty great, but the color is the problem, it looks like urine, if I had to be honest, I wouldn't be caught dead drinking that. And we chatted along, making fun of our classmates that had a serious case of the "new Pinocchio adaptation" voice also known as the slay queen voice, and making fun of a guy that has a crush on me, who just sprinted because my classmates paired us up. And other silly little things like that.
So, I hope you guys are all excited of what I will publish next week, because spoiler alert: it's very democratic, I might say. Or not. So I guess I'll see you all next week!
