We're back this week on act 3 of my Guerilla Street Art project which is the origami bookmark arc, and this is the second week of the arc, so next week we're going to be moving on to the fourth act, the sticky notes arc. Honestly, I don't know what to expect about that one yet so let's just dive in to the origami bookmarks that I've shared this week.
Now, like every other Guerilla Street Art post of mine, I'll be adding a quick follow-up for those who didn't tune in my past posts and doesn't know what is the Guerilla Street Art project I'm talking about. So basically, it's a project where I share different styles of street art and spread them around specific places at my school, and one act lasts 2 weeks, so for example, in the first act of this Project, I made hand-drawn postcards and spread them around random books in the school library. And on the second act, I made photographed polaroid and put them on random trees and poles around school. And this week, I'm continuing the second week of the origami arc where I made 3 origami bookmarks of the same kind and spreading them around random places at school everyday. I've already finished 6 origamis last week, so after this week's done, we've shared 12 kinds of origami bookmarks in total.
On Monday, I made 3 origami bookmark of different types of dogs. I’m not a fan of dogs, I’m more of a cat person, but I knew people who’d love it if they found these origamis of dogs. I followed Recreation Craft’s tutorials for this and I love how these turned out because I finally made bookmarks that are not all diamond-shaped like last week. I made them in the color yellow, purple, and blue, and I think they turned out pretty good! I put them in various classrooms, including mine, even though it’s pretty risky… Because classrooms at our school were never vacant, except for the locked ones, and I had to pretend to know someone from that classroom and put the origami in their desk.
Tuesday, I made cow bookmarks. Yes, cows. I made them in a couple of different colored spots but they are all made from white copy paper. I am able to make these bookmarks with the help of Crafty Kids Corner’s tutorial. The colors I picked for the spots are pink, black, and grey, because black and grey are mandatory, it’s the state law. I don’t know where to put the cows at, at first. But, I finally decided it’ll be on this one bench near the vacant class, and it’ll just live there happily ever after.
On Wednesday, I made the bookmarks I’ve been waiting from the start to make! It’s little rabbits! Recreation Craft’s tutorials came in handy for this one, and I recreate them using the color yellow, green, and blue. I put them near the small park at school, again, because I think rabbits like to hang out in parks. I hid them under the bushes in the benches at the park, and it is completely hidden now.
Thursday, I finally did cats. Yes, like I mentioned in the first day, I liked cats more than dogs so now I’m here to make it even, so I made both of them. The tutorial I picked for this one is from Quinn the fox’s blog post. it’s more complicated that the other ones, but I’m willing to make the sacrifice of learning how to make this one for hours. The three colors I decided to use were pink, purple, and yellow. This one took the longest time to make, but the result is worth all the time spent, this might be my new favorite origami bookmark now. I put the origami cats in the school cafeteria, because there’s this three cats there, who I believed is a family, of which me and my friend played often with while waiting for our order. They’re a cutie pie, I don’t know their names but they’re owned by the food stall in farthest left of the school cafeteria, and so I put these origamis near them too.
On Friday, I did three mouse bookmarks, because after I did cats I thought why not mice too? I found a unique-shaped one too, from Bookmark’s tutorial, again. I think I’ve used that channel’s tutorials 4-5 times throughout this arc, but it’s just that good. Since I don’t have gray origamis, I had to buy one quickly from a stationery store nearby. I ended up buying a pack of neutral-colored origamis, and I chose the color gray, brown, and beige for the mice. I put one in the cafeteria, one in this dirty alley leading to the Junior year building, and the last one in the demolished building near the vacant class.
Finally, the final bookmark origami of this project is… Bears! I found a really great tutorial for this one too. They looked like the real thing and it’s from Hello Origami’s tutorial. I used the origamis from the neutral-colored pack from the previous day and so I chose the color brown, broken white, and reddish brown for the bears. I put them in this area at school where there’s trees and there’s ground dirt, but it’s near some sort of benches, I’m not sure I can describe it well, but it looks like a mini ecosystem, so I put the bears to live peacefully there.
That’s all for this post, folks! I’m not sure whether I can continue this project next week because I had this big scouts competition coming up, and our coach made us practice 4 days a week, so I only had 3 free days in a week, and I’m not even sure if I can keep up with the practice. Maybe I can post a couple more interval posts, but not for the previous reasons (which is school breaks), but because of this competition. The competition is on late May, which is pretty concerning because our finals is on June 2nd, so at this point I’m not really sure about anything in life, to sum it up. What do you guys think? Should I continue the challenge? Or should I wait until after the competition and the finals? Comment your thoughts down below, I hope you all can understand this, and see you on next week’s post!
