Sticky Notes Designs I Put Around School This Week

This week, we’re continuing our fourth Guerilla Street Art journey for the second week of sticky notes arc! And next week, we will finally move one to the last ever arc of this project, the envelope arc! I’ve already bought most of the supplies needed for that arc and I’m excited to execute it next week and document it here, so stay tuned for that one!

Like every other Lane’s Guerilla Street Art project post, I will summarize a little bit about this project before jumping straight into the documentation. So, in this project, I made 5 different types of crafts where I change the type every other week and in that period of time I will be sharing the crafts in public places at my school. For the first ever act, I made hand-drawn postcards and hid it inside random books at the school library. On the second act, I took photographs of random school places and printed them in a polaroid-style border and put the polaroid on random trees, pillars, and poles around school. And for the third act, I made origami bookmarks of different animals and hid them in places where they’re potentially camouflaged in a way. And in this post, I’m continuing the second week of the fourth act by making 3 different-styled sticky notes, which is doodle notes, quotes, and riddles, and I will be spreading them anywhere random, because there’s no specific place where I had to put these one around on. If you want to read the first week of this sticky notes arc, check out “Sticky Notes Mayhem: The Sticky Note Attack At School” post. Now, let’s start this week’s sticky notes arc documentation.

First sticky note of the week is a quote, since last week I ended with a doodle note. And the quote I picked is from Dead Kennedys’ Chickenshit Conformist. I’ve loved that song since it first came out, even though I wasn’t even born yet. The line I picked is “The more things change, the more they stay the same, we won’t grow if we won’t criticize ourselves.” I think Dead Kennedys are very lyrical. They don’t just complain about politics, they made a statement. I aspire to be someone that can put my voice into words. Like them, in a way.

The second sticky note is a secret word riddle of “SMILE”, basically to remind people to smile and make other people’s day better. “The star that lights up our whole solar system. The standard metric unit that's used to measure length. A lightbulb moment. Something you fell in. One of the five senses to perceive vision.” The answer to that riddle is Sun, Meter, Idea, Love, and Eye, which if you combine the first letters of each words, you get “SMILE.” Simple enough. But it’s probably enough to think about it the whole day, in my opinion.

Third, I made a doodle note of weapons. Video game weapons to be exact, since I’m an RPG game player, and I dedicated this sticky note for the top RPG weapons out there by making it into a “choose your weapon!” format. I made a sword, a bow and arrow, a spear, a scythe, and a battle axe. I added a checkbox so that the person who found this sticky note could pick the weapon they wanted by checking the box.

The fourth sticky note of the week is a quote, and this one isn't from a song, it's from Oscar Wilde, “Experience is the hardest kind of teacher, it gives you the test first and the lesson afterward.” I personally love that quote because of two reasons, it's relatable and it's from Oscar Wilde.

Fifth sticky note is a riddle about friendship. And it’s a little bit abstract, since friendship is one of the things people defined differently. “Happiness. That’s what I bring to this world. But when the people’s involved are toxic, I became the cause of sadness. What am I?” Honestly, if I found a riddle like this, out in the wild, I don’t think I will be able to solve it. So, good luck to someone who found this one, I’d be sure to spy on them and give them candy if they solved it.

For the sixth sticky note, I made a doodle note where I drew a fake collectors guide! I took the inspiration for the characters from this squeaky creature toy I had (I'm not sure what animal it's supposed to be, because I've had it a long time ago) and made 4 of the characters in total. The first one is the one heavily inspired by the toy I had, I call her “Smidge.” She’s a violet and white racoon, and she had pink hearts in between her eyes. There’s also a blue possum, and I named him “Gunt” because it sounds funny. Another one is a little green ringtail (with green and white striped tail) and his name is “Mammo.” And the last of the collection is a small red and pink sugar glider with it’s patagium opened, her name is “ Simella” because she probably stink.

Seventh, I made sticky note of a quote from a lyric snippet of a Meat Puppet's song, their most famous song, to be exact, Backwater. I chose the chorus for this one “Some things will never change, they stand there looking backwards, half unconscious from the pain.”

Eighth sticky note is a special riddle with morse code. It goes a little something like “···· · ·−·· ·−·· −−−, ··’−− ··−· ·−· −−− −− −−− ··− − · ·−· ··· ·−−· ·− −·−· ·” which means “hello, I’m from outer space.” It’s a joke, obviously, morse code is invented by a human, how does a creature from outer space can read or write that. But I guess, someone could take it seriously and could later be taken by a UFO. Who knows?

The ninth sticky note is a doodle note of a scavenger hunt for items to find around school. And of course, the items I mentioned aren't mine, it's just some things I've seen around school like this mushroom near the bench in front of the main hall, and I made that the first item of the scavenger hunt since that mushroom is really easy to find, especially if you explored the school often. The next item is the stackable chair from the school’s main hall, it’s the second level because I’m sure every student has been to the main hall at least once, but some may not notice these stackable chairs, it’s a 50/50 situation. The third item is the bench in front of the nurse’s office near where I used to do scouts practice. And I think it’s pretty easy to spot since it’s out in the wild, but the benches in my school look similar to each other, so it might confuse a couple of people. And the last scavenger item is this specific hibiscus flower pot near the entrance of my classroom, and it’s hidden in the other side of the plant stand. So, good luck to anyone who’s not from my class/the neighboring class that found this sticky note, I hope you had a good time trying to find it. Because I hid a small lollipop in that plant pot as a reward!

Finally, the last sticky note of the week is a quote from one of my favorite Bratz song, which is ‘Who I Am’. The line I took is the first verse, modified, “Tell you about a city girl, she's surprising. You'll never get the better, so totally amazing. Don't worry about nothing, she just gotta be free.” It's nothing meaningful, but I want this one to be a song recommendation to whoever found this sticky note, which is why I added a Spotify code under the lyric snippet. To whoever found this sticky note, I guess, welcome to the world of Bratz.

So, that’s the full documentation of the last week of sticky notes arc, and I got a special announcement for all of you: I’m not continuing this project next week, instead I will wait until the finals exams are over. I’m postponing it because I got busier with scouts every week, since there’s a scouts competition coming up on late May, and literally the next day after the scouts competition is over is the first day of the finals test, but nevertheless I’m so excited to start the envelope arc on June, I hope you guys are too, so see you next week for the interval post until then! Lane, out.
